Truce Beauty, a pioneering D2C brand in Bangladesh, aims to create ethical cosmetics
In Bangladesh, where there are still few D2C brands, Truce Beauty is an ethical and clean beauty skincare brand founded by a female entrepreneur who was inspired by the youth movement sparked by Black Lives Matter (BLM) and wanted cosmetics that were truly suited to the skin of South Asian women. We spoke to Samira Roqaiya Quasem, founder and CEO of Truce Beauty, about the thoughts behind the brand and the background to producing in Korea with the cooperation of OEM platform company Cosmepolitan.
A clean beauty brand developed and manufactured with the knowledge and technology of a Korean OEM company
is a skincare brand founded in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2022. Truce Beauty It is a Made-in-Korea Bangladeshi brand created using the formulations and manufacturing technology of a Korean OEM company, based on the desire of its founder and CEO, Samira Rokaiya Quasem, to “create safe and highly functional skincare products suitable for the skin of South Asian consumers, who live in hot and humid climates, have melanin-rich skin that is prone to sunburn and tends to be oily, which can cause acne.”

The line-up includes three products: the Anti-Pollution Face Wash, which contains BHA; the Hydra-Peel Anti-Sebum Toner, which contains extracts from Korean pearls; and the Brightening TLC Cream, which is primarily made from niacinamide, lemon peel oil, and citrus extracts. All are priced at around 2,200 yen.
which produced this project Cosmepolitan, , is a platform that supports companies and individuals in planning, manufacturing, packaging, launching, and selling cosmetics through a global network of cosmetics OEM companies, mainly in Korea and Japan. According to KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), this is the first case of cosmetics trade from Korea to Bangladesh.
While researching cosmetics, Quasem learned of Cosmepolitan and approached them for advice. “After I told them my idea, the project started with clarifying the goal and concept of the product line. I started by collecting samples of existing products that were close to the image of the product I had in mind, and researched products that interested me in terms of formulation, ingredients, efficacy, texture, etc.”
Using these as a reference, Quasem and the Cosmepolitan team created a specific product lineup and, after careful discussions, selected the best Korean OEM manufacturer to produce each item, from formulation to packaging. Truce Beauty officially launched its products in June 2022, about a year after Quasem first contacted Cosmepolitan.
